Pleasant Weekend, Rainy At The Polls Tuesday
Friday Evening Forecast Update
After getting a fair bit of rain to end October, West Tennessee will see a few nice days before rain returns on Tuesday. Most of the area picked up between 1-2 inches with the system that moved through ahead of the cold front. Also, there is a developing system in the tropics that may become a tropical depression as early as this weekend. We have the details right here.
Thursday’s Totals:
Jackson saw the most rain in our area with 1.8 inches of rain. Second place was Dyersburg with 1.4 inches. Selmer and Henderson both got around half an inch on the lowest end of the spectrum.
This Weekend:
Weather will be pleasant with highs in the upper-70s to low-80s with increasing cloud cover over the course of the entire weekend. Winds will be light and out of the east then shift to the south and pick up on Sunday. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-60s all weekend.
Monday:
Monday will be breezy. Expect sustained winds of 15-20 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph. Skies will be mostly cloudy and cloud cover will again be increasing over the course of the day. Overnight, a chance of showers move into the region ahead of another cold front that will pass on Tuesday.
Tuesday (ELECTION DAY):
Showers are expected in West Tennessee after 1:00 PM on Election Day, so if you didn’t vote early, take the jacket and/or umbrella to the polls with you. This is another typical frontal system, so expect a wall of rain at the start and once the front passes, rain will gradually decrease as the front moves away. Also, winds will be stronger with this system compared to the system that moved through on Thursday.
Final Thoughts:
We are entering our secondary severe season soon. Atlantic hurricane season ends on Nov. 30th, which is generally coincided with an uptick in weather here in the southeastern US. As always, you will get the latest from us here at Storm Team 7. Remember to always be weather aware.
