West Tennessee Veterans Coalition holds annual Veterans Day celebration

JACKSON, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition invited speaker Sherry Pickering to speak about the resources offered across West Tennessee to veterans.

During this celebration veterans were able to watch Liberty Technology ROTC students fold the flag. Along with that, the City of Jackson and Madison County read a proclamation for Friday evening’s celebration.

“Part of the importance is saying we’ll never forget. If we don’t have events like this, it doesn’t teach the next generation to ensure we’ll never forget,” said Sherry Pickering, veterans outreach coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services.

Due to rain in the forecast, the Veterans Day parade scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until next Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m.
