Chilly Night for Football, Nice Weekend Coming, Rain Back Early Next Week
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
After some morning clouds the sun has returned this afternoon across West Tennessee warming us back up to around 60°. Temperatures will fall down to around 50° for kickoff and mid 40s by the 4th quarter of the playoff games tonight. Southerly winds will try to warm us back up a bit this weekend. Rain will return early next week and a freeze will be possible late next week too. We will get to it all right here.

THIS WEEK:
Temperatures have been above normal each day so far during the month of November, but that changed on Thursday with highs falling a couple degrees short of average under the clouds and behind Wednesday nights front. The coolest morning we have encountered so far as of Monday is 49° earlier this week, but Thursday night we were much cooler and feel down to to 37°. We could even fall into the upper 30s again Friday night just in time to kick off the weekend. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s for the second night of playoff football across West Tennessee so please bundle up.

Highs again made it up to around 70° in the middle of the week but only reached around 60° Thursday. Overnight lows most of the week have fallen down into the 40s. Although a few 30s could be possible in our northern counties again tonight, no frost of freezing temperatures are in the forecast until maybe late next week. We could be looking at our latest freeze on record if we do not get there next Friday, but we still have 12 more days to go before we set that record. The latest fall freeze we have had in Jackson was October 28th back in 2004.

Highs on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only reached the low 60s. Clouds and rain showers will returned on Wednesday and a few storms tried to mix in but we didn’t see much. The rain started in the mid morning and was off and on into the afternoon and evening. The rain wrapped up before the sun came up on Thursday. Most of us saw between 1/2″ to 1″ of rain but there were some isolated areas that picked up between 2-3″ as well. We saw around an inch in Jackson putting up well above so far on the month and year in the rain department. We saw a cloudy day on Thursday but the skies will cleared into Friday afternoon. Mostly clear skies will be back Friday night and stick around into the start of the weekend.

The winds this week came out of the northeast on Tuesday, the southeast on Wednesday, back to the northwest on Thursday and came straight out of the north on Friday. The change in the winds was from two cold fronts and a low pressure system that moved through our area. High pressure moved in late Thursday and will stick around for a few days keeping the clouds and rain showers away until early next week. No severe weather is in the forecast as of now for us over the next 10 days.
THE WEEKEND:
Southerly winds will look to move back in this weekend in West Tennessee and that will warm us up a bit back into the mid to upper 60s for highs and maybe some low 70s on Sunday. There is a chance will reach the 70s on both Sunday and next Monday but it will be close for most of us. Saturday will be a mostly sunny day but more clouds will return late in the day on Sunday. There is a chance for some late day rain showers and maybe a few storms as of now late in the day on Monday but it doesn’t appear to be anything significant as well at this time.

Saturday morning will be a little chilly around 40° but Saturday night will fall down to around 50° and mid 50s are expected for our Sunday night. Overall the weekend looks pretty good with Saturday being a little cooler, less humid but dry. As of now, rain will look to stay away again this weekend. There will be some early week rain next week and maybe even a freeze as we wrap up the work week. It appears our second cold blast of the fall is on the way.
