Fatal wreck in Benton County leads to water main break

UPDATE (11/26/24): According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a victim from Monday night’s crash has been identified. 39-year-old Evan Christopher Jones was killed in the four-vehicle collision. Only one person, who was driving a Buick LaCrosse, was reported injured. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation for one of the drivers who was operating a semi-truck. No other details are available at this time.

EARLIER STORY (11/25/24):

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — According to a social media post with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Highway 70 has been shut down due to a wreck.

The wreck has been confirmed to be fatal by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post made earlier.

Details are limited at this time, however, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office says the highway will remain closed for several hours, possibly lasting until daylight. The road is shutdown east and west bound near Big Daddy’s. The wreck also caused a water main break, with Benton County Schools announcing a closure for tomorrow, November 26.
