Madison County Budget Committee holds monthly meeting
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Madison County Budget Committee held their monthly meeting Wednesday.
New business included $210,000 for the property committee, to help to tear down the classroom portion of Beech Bluff School. 29 amendments were proposed and approved Wednesday.
Other matters discussed were the ‘Assistance to Firefighters’ grant in which the Madison County Fire Department is applying for. This will help pay for additional equipment and to send advanced EMT’s to paramedic school to receive advanced life support training.
Chief Eric Turner with the Madison County Fire Department asked the committee for a 10% match on the grant.
“We’re currently finishing up writing the grant as we speak. It’s due in a few weeks. We will send that in and it will probably be spring before we get whether we are awarded or not awarded and then we will move forward from that. So, this is just kind of preparation for that so we have the matching money in place if we were to get the grant,” said Chief Turner.
Chief Turner says the grant application will be sent in when it is due in a few weeks.
This would only cost the county $57,500 for this type of training and equipment upgrades. Instead of $575,000.
Budget committee members Andy Hall and Mike Bryant were also reappointed at the meeting.
