Communities celebrate holiday season as parades kick off across West Tennessee
LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The holidays are in full effect as the city of Lexington kicks off its 2024 Christmas parade.
We’re a little under three weeks away from Christmas and parades all over the region continue to bring the community together.
A full line up of businesses, groups and organizations participated in this year’s parade in downtown Lexington from marching bands, civic groups, dignitaries and even a visit from old St. Nick himself. It’s all about the spirit of Christmas and being reminded of what’s most important.
“We brought the family out. You know everybody likes a good classic car man. We’ve got firetrucks, police — we’ve got some good 18-wheelers coming through here. I mean, I think this is something everyone should attend even if you’re not from Lexington come out and have a good time with us,” said Nicolas Newland, parade attendee.
One parade goer shares his favorite part of the night.
“Seeing the firefighters and everything, getting to high-five them and everything. Getting the candy, obviously, too,” said Sebastian Vails, parade attendee.
He also fills us in on what he expecting on his wish list while counting down the days until Christmas.
“The new college football 2025 game that just recently came out and a PS5 with it too. It’s got some of my favorite players like Travis Hunter and Ron Williams,” said Vails.
The grand marshal for the 2024 Christmas Parade was Miss Nashville’s Teen Addison Stanfill. Attendees are already looking forward to what’s to come in the future.
“I just hope we have another good year like we’ve had this year,” said Newland.
According to the Henderson Police Department, they had more than 130 entries for this years parade.
