Trenton PD holds 3rd annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ event

TRENTON, Tenn. — A local police department is helping kids get in the Christmas spirit.

Tuesday, the Trenton Police Department held their third shop with a cop event. Officials say they were able to add more kids than they had last year. According to Police Chief Bill Cusson, they provide an opportunity for the kids and the officers to bond by eating Dominos pizza at city hall and having a good conversation.

Following the meal, they took the kids to Walmart in Humboldt where they were able to spend $250 dollars per child.

“We do it because there are so many underprivileged children that are in this area and around the country. And it’s just really important that if we can as a community come together and just bring some smiles to the faces of some kids that are less fortunate,” said Chief Cusson.

Chief Cusson says the true heroes of this effort are the business partners and community members who give donations to make this event possible.
