Library gives children their own New Year’s Eve celebration
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — New Year’s Eve is a fun time, but sometimes younger children simply cannot stay awake until midnight. In order to allow these children to enjoy New Year’s celebrations and festivities, one local library came up with a creative and fun solution.
The Humboldt Public Library hosted a New Year’s Eve event for children on Tuesday. The party started around 11 a.m. and included New Year’s themed crafts and activities. A balloon countdown was held to ring in the New Year at noon and each balloon had a different activity inside that included short games for the children to enjoy.
“We even had bubble wrap that the kids got to jump on to do some firework noises. We’ve been playing some freeze dances and some musical games and some scavenger hunts to look for the ball like the one in New York City,” said Ashley Niven.
There were a wide range of activities for children of various ages to enjoy and that provided them the opportunity to celebrate the new year.
