Restaurants serving up good fortune for 2025 with traditional meal

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — One local restaurant helped residents to bring in good fortune with a traditional meal.

The Corner Café in Lexington sold out a traditional southern New Year’s Day meal to over 30 families.

This meal consisted of: hog jowls, cornbread, black eyed peas, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes.

“Health, wealth, and abundance” is what this meal can supposedly bring those that take a bite of each item.

This was the first year they have offered a New Year’s meal to residents.

However, the owner says she learned how to make this meal over the years from the women that came before her.

“To grow, be bigger, every year we’re doing a little bit more,” said owner Terri McCormick. “We’re just trying to grow slow, we want to grow slow but steady. So far every year that’s been what we’ve wanted to do and it’s worked out really well.”

Customers were encouraged to pre-order their meal for just $12 to eat in or to take home.
