Milan educator honored with classroom naming ceremony
MILAN, Tenn. — One local school celebrates an educator in a special way.
A classroom naming and dedication ceremony was held at Milan High School Friday afternoon.
The classroom was named in honor of educator Rebecca Jones.
Jones taught Career Technical Education classes at Milan High School for 33 years and eventually became a director of the program. Leaders named the classroom used by Jones the “Rebecca Jones Consumer Science Laboratory.”
“I knew when I was a very young girl that I wanted to become a teacher, so I’ve actually been in a school since I was five years old and thankful that I can be in a school now as a university supervisor working with student teachers that are thriving to become an exemplary teacher also,” said Jones.
Jones went on to explain that this ceremony is a very special honor for her. She also expressed her appreciation for community support that she’s received throughout the years.
