Voices of Savannah to open warming station ahead of severe weather

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Due to the anticipated weather changes, Voices of Savannah will be opening its warming station at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 in Savannah.

Located on 212 Eureka Street in Savannah, the warming shelter will provide men and women with food, clothing and shelter as they wait out the freezing temperatures. Officials say it’s the monetary donations from the community that allow the nonprofit to be able to serve those in need.

The shelter is asking the community to donate food, supplies and to volunteer their time to help those in need. Last year, there were not enough men available to volunteer, so they hope that more men will sign up this year.

“We want them to be as comfortable as they possible can be while they are in our care. That’s our number one objective,” said Deborah Shaw, director for Voices of Savannah.

As the cold continues, more accommodations may become necessary. For more information on how to donate or volunteer, click here.
