Aspell Recovery Center director retires after 20 years of service
JACKSON, Tenn. — Richard Barber, the guiding force behind the Aspell Recovery Center for the past 20 years, has retired.
Barber’s retirement event was held Monday morning at Aspell’s Jackson campus.
As executive director, Barber and his team brought Aspell to new heights year after year in terms of programs, the capacity to serve more clients and growth from a two-story house to an entire campus of facilities for those affected by addiction.
The new executive director, Lindsey Crowder has been working for Aspell for the past 11 years and shares her experience working with Barber.
“Everyday Richard showed up encouraging, believing in myself, believing in everyone that works here so that we could support the people that come to treatment here so that’s part of who he is. I think he’s just warm, genuine, encouraging — just a God loving man,” said Crowder.
The Aspell Recovery Center serves the West Tennessee area regarding issues related to addiction and co-occurring disorders. There are also specialized programs for pregnant or postpartum women.
If you or someone you know needs help with substance use, you can call Aspell Recovery Center at 731-427-7238.
