Leda Colleen Hurt
Leda Colleen Hurt of Medon, TN passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 after a short illness.
Although she was hospitalized and on oxygen, she had enjoyed a week filled with laughter, memories, visits, and phone calls from all her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Nana was well loved.
Colleen was born on August 10, 1935 in Big Sandy, TN to the late Will D. and Olah Johnson. She had three sisters (Pauline, Kathleen, and Christine) and three brothers (W.D., Norman, and Carl). She married George Hurt, Jr. of Springville on May 12, 1953. All these loved ones preceded her in death.
Mrs. Colleen was a longtime hairdresser in South Jackson working for Beauty Rama and Image Makers. She was also a longtime member of Bolivar First Methodist Church.
She leaves three children, Debby Hurt Taylor (Roger), Cindy Hurt Clampitt (Barry), and Steve Hurt (Stacey); ten grandchildren, Troy Taylor (Allyson), Tracye Taylor (Adam), Dee Bishop (Brad), Jared Babb (Sammy), Leslie Thomas (Jeff), Jonathan Knipper (Tiffany), Jodi Bishop (Brandon), Dai Hodge (Quint), Frank Clampitt (Ashley), and Zack Clampitt (Sissy); and a special niece she helped raise, Freida Phifer. She is also survived by her fifteen precious great grandchildren, Landon and Lofton Moore, Ruby Carpenter, Elliot and Adelyn Pulliam, James Michael Hodge, Karsyn and Kole Knipper, Frankie Clamitt, Aura Taylor, George and William Babb, Maggie Bishop, Hunter and Addie Clampitt.
A service to celebrate the life of Colleen Hurt will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Parkburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am, three hours prior to the service. Rev. Mark Templeton of Bolivar First Methodist Church will officiate the service.
