Birdie “Nanny” Gooch
Birdie “Nanny” Gooch, age 101, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Bells Funeral Home, with Bro. J.P. Stovall officiating. Burial to follow at the Cypress Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Bells Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at 1:00 P.M.
Mrs. Birdie was born on November 14, 1923, in Haywood County to the late Allen Kilburn and the late Ruthie Mathenie Kilburn. Prior to becoming a member at Victory Worship Center located in Jackson, she was a member of East Haywood Church of God. Birdie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a devoted homemaker. As a homemaker, she worked tirelessly and poured her love into her family and home. Birdie was known for being a prayer warrior, loving immensely, and long hugs.
She enjoyed crocheting, gospel music, baking (Bunt) cakes, and attending church. Her nurturing spirit touched everyone that knew her, as to know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years: Mr. Pierce Gooch; one son: Darrell Gooch; one granddaughter: Teri Porter; and one sister: Virgie Burns.
She is survived by one daughter: Jean Fullbright (Frank) of Jackson, TN; two sons: Leo Gooch (Nina) of Bells, TN and Larry Gooch of Jackson, TN; She leaves a legacy of six grandchildren: Tammy Webb (Lynn), Shelia Fullbright, Jason Gooch, Stacy Salzer, Will Salzer, Lisa Gooch; fourteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers are Jason Gooch, Joseph Gooch, Cody Porter, Mark Williams, Tony Horner, Daniel Pierce and Daniel Burns. Honorary Pallbearers are Lynn Webb, Will Salzer and Frank Fullbright.
