Mayor Scott Conger delivers 2025 State of the City address
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local mayor spoke at the Jackson Exchange Club sharing the goals that he hopes to accomplish in 2025.
Mayor Scott Conger has deemed this year “Growth for All” with his goals of continuing to make Jackson a place where people want to live.
“The private development that’s coming down, the project that we’re either going to start or complete this year. I think 2025 is going to be a real exciting year for the city of Jackson. Seeing the continued investment in our people and our places and enhancing our quality of life and enhancing our overall feel for our city,” said Mayor Conger.
Mayor Conger plans to accomplish improving Jackson infrastructure. In 2024, the Street Department improved potholes and will now work to make more areas across the city accessible.
“In 2025 the Street Department is focusing on replacing sidewalks and handicap ramps to make it easier for those with wheel chairs and other disabilities to move throughout our city. Additionally, they’ll focus on giving city roads a cleaner, more appealing look like cutting medians, trimming along the roads. Additionally, our sign department cleared obstructions and brushes and debris from over 500 signs this year,” said Mayor Conger.
Along with making the city more inclusive, the city will potentially work with a possible waste transfer station and commercial recycling center.
“This facility will streamline operations, increase recycling capacity and promotes sustainability by diverting more materials from our landfills. Under Austin’s leadership, the city is also developing and preparing to execute our storm water master plan that addresses current challenges and prepares for our cities growth,” said Mayor Conger.
He shared that parks and recreation will launch a new program this year and there will be new improvements to the pickleball courts in the Hub City.
These were just a few of the many plans that Mayor Conger plans to implement in 2025 including construction beginning in August down Airways.
“Today we’re laying the foundation of a Jackson that is stronger, more resilient and efficient on delivering its promises. It’s about prioritizing fiscal responsibility and empowering community led solutions and reducing unnecessary barriers. We’re building a city where growth is both inclusive and sustainable,” said Mayor Conger.
Mayor Conger also says he and Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey arranged a meeting to discuss a resolution for the road leading into the new Pope School.
