Selmer Police Department accepting patrol officer applications till January 20
SELMER, Tenn. — The city of Selmer is looking to hire three patrol officers for the Selmer Police Department.
The position would include: answering calls for service, reporting crimes, patrolling the town of Selmer, detecting criminal activity, making arrests, service warrants, investigating traffic accidents and enforcing both criminal and traffic laws.
Retirement is offered with the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System at no cost to the employee with an option to add 401k that is self contributory. New employees earn four hours vacation and four hours sick time each pay period. Vacation increases after five years.
After five years of service each employee will begin receiving longevity pay that increases with each year of service up to 15 years. Employees are provided with full medical coverage (including dental and vision) that begins after 90 days. Family coverage is available at the employee’s cost.
The department will provide a take home patrol vehicle, all uniforms and accessories, and then have a $400 per year uniform supplement. All candidates chosen must successfully pass a comprehensive background check, a mental health evaluation, as well as a physical by a physician at no cost to the employee.
All candidates must successfully complete the field training program of the Selmer Police Department as well as attend a POST approved police academy.
