Haywood County leaders discuss construction of new high school building
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Leaders with one local county met to discuss replacing one of their existing school buildings.
The Haywood County Commission met Thursday evening in Brownsville to discuss potential plans for building a new high school. Community members had an opportunity to address the commission, expressing their support for the plan. Leaders say the current building, built in the 1970s, has been refurbished several times.
One community member says it’s time to think about building a new Haywood High School Facility.
“I love Haywood County, but we are behind, we are way behind. We have got to make this decision to figure out how to move forward as quickly as we can in an effective manner,” said one Haywood County resident and parent.
Haywood County commissioners voted unanimously to approve building a new high school. Leaders are currently considering a location for it to be built.
