First-ever Design Dash contest in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.—Artists from across West TN compete to have the winning mural.
The first-ever Design Dash was hosted by Our Jackson Home and the City of Jackson this weekend.
The two-day event invited teams of artists to come together and paint a mural.
Each team of two, were asked to paint a mural at an unknown location and with no knowledge of the theme.
Teams were given just two days for completion of the projects and also received mentoring from two mural professionals, Whitney Herrington and Kim Radford.
On the final day, contestants were invited to theCO to present their ideas before a panel of judges.
“This mural is going to be installed on the annex building on the interior of the Farmers Market. Nine teams participated. We had nineteen local artist participating and the two artists selected were Katie Howerton and Hilary Griffith. They are local artist,” said Lizzie Emmons, Program Director for Our Jackson Home.
Winners were awarded 11,000 dollars to complete their mural in Downtown Jackson.
