UPDATE (1/23/25): Police detail events that led to Slim Chickens shooting, 1 charged with murder

JACKSON, Tenn. — Around 6:30 p.m., we received several calls from our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipsters regarding a large police presence at Slim Chickens in north Jackson.

When we arrived, we noticed dozens of law enforcement officers flooding the scene to assess the shooting. Emergency medical services were also on scene.

We were able to speak with Deputy Chief Tisdale who says this incident appears to be a targeted attack.

“From what I’m getting, we believe that this incident was a targeted attack rather than a random thing. So, I don’t think any of the community needs to be upset or in an uproar right now. But as we continue to investigate and get more information we’ll definitely put it out,” said Chief Tisdale.

The Jackson Police Department says there is one suspect currently in custody. Also, according to an update issued just before 10 p.m., JPD confirms that one individual was pronounced dead at the scene and three others sustained injuries.
