Ford’s BlueOval City announces their ‘Good Neighbor Plan’ to local communities
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.— One local community embraces the cold temperatures to celebrate a new journey.
Ford announced their “Good Neighbor Plan” for West Tennessee with a winter celebration at the Brownsville Boys and Girls Club.
“We’re not stuck in the mud anymore, we’re driving a Ford Lighting truck now and together we’re going to move forward in that Ford Lighting truck,” Ray Jones, Unit Director for Boys and Girls Club of Brownsville shares.
In September of 2021 Ford announced BlueOval City to Stanton in Haywood County.
Since this announcement Ford decided to create their “Good Neighbor Plan” to listen to residents and their needs once this factory is up and running.
“It’s Ford’s strong belief that every community surrounding BlueOval City should benefit as the complex comes to life. That’s why we created the good neighbor plan it’s the largest community investment by a company so far in rural west Tennessee at 9 million dollars,” Gabby Bruno, Director of Community Relations for Ford Motor Company, shares.
Their plan focuses on improving community gathering spaces, community preservation, and workforce development.
In doing so, some solutions that their board has worked on includes new playgrounds, college scholarships for local residents, and programs to bring emergency rent and utility and home repair assistance.
“We want you to know that we are listening, we hear you, and the good neighbor plan reflects what we’re learning. It’s about preparing people for careers it’s about making investments in the community based on residents input and it’s about protecting the environment,” Bruno adds.
Other plans includes is literacy programs for both children and adults.
Protecting the environment which includes beautification of rivers and public spaces and support for farmers and businesses that offer entrepreneurship programs and workshops.
“We’ll know that our plan is successful when every resident, young- I don’t want to point at myself. I’m old, well older- and old believe that their brightest future is right here in west Tennessee,” Bruno says.
Their overall goal is accomplish these plans while also spreading the news to more residents by visiting churches and organizations in the community.
