JPD responds to shooting in east Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.—JPD confirms shooting in east Jackson.

Just after 2 pm Saturday, we received a tipster call of a large police presence in the area of Royal Street and Hardee Street regarding a possible shooting.

Our crews arrived on the scene to find a residence and street blocked off with crime scene tape. JPD officers, criminal investigators, and EMS were on the scene along with several bystanders.

The Jackson Police Department issued the following news release.

Date: January 25, 2025

At approximately 12:40 PM January 25, 2025, the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 100 block of Hardee Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old female inside a residence suffering from a gun shot wound.

Despite the immediate life-saving measures by first responders, tragically, the female died on scene as a result of her injuries.

Investigators are currently conducting interviews with witnesses who were present at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

The Jackson Police Department is committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.
