Brownsville celebrates Blues icon Sleepy John Estes
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.—One local event celebrates the birthday of a legendary blues musician.
Sleepy John’s Country Blues Jam and Birthday Celebration was held Saturday in Brownville.
The event honoring legendary blues icon Sleepy John Estes began at 10 in the morning at the Heritage Center located at 121 Sunny Hill Cove.
The annual celebration includes music and entertainment with this year’s special guest being Cecil Yancy. Other musicians also joined Yancy in the tribute.
Following the musical presentation, guests could enjoy birthday cake or take part in an acoustic blues jam session. Food trucks were also on site to grab a bite.
The event was open to all ages and free to attend.
This is the eleventh year for the event to take place.
