Man faces new charges after autopsy reveals child died from blunt force trauma

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

JACKSON, Tenn. — On January 22, 2025 Officers of the Jackson Police Department responded to 550 Old Hickory Apartments regarding an unresponsive child being found in the residence.

Upon arrival, Jackson firefighters and EMS personnel attempted to resuscitate the child but were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced deceased at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Judon Roberson, Jr was in care of the child. Roberson initially stated to investigators that the child had drowned in the bathroom after he left the child alone in the tub.

Roberson was arraigned on charges of Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect in Jackson City Court on January 24, 2025.

An autopsy was completed on the child on January 24, 2025, and preliminary findings show blunt force trauma as a cause of death. After conferring with the District Attorney’s Office it was determined that Roberson should be charged with Felony Murder in Perpetration of Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect. Roberson will be arraigned in Jackson City Court.
