Events happening across West Tennessee this weekend

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s Friday! That means you made it through the work week, school week — whatever preoccupied your time this week – now it’s time to relax and refresh.

Maybe that means staying at home to binge watch your favorite TV shows, or getting out and about to spend time with friends and family. We have a variety of events happening area-wide if you are looking for something to do.

Hub City Flea Market kicks off

Starting Friday evening, from 5 p.m. 8 p.m., is Jackson’s Hub City Flea Market. Bring your friends, family, or just yourself to this three-day event happening all weekend at the Jackson Fairgrounds with a variety of vendors. Saturday’s times are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

JMC Library to host scavenger hunt and more

You can celebrate national ‘Take Your Kid to the Library Day’ with thousands of others around the world at your local library Saturday.

The Jackson Madison County Library will have a scavenger hunt and valentine’s day crafts for kids. You are encouraged to come in and read with your children and pick up a guide of events happening at the library in February.

Check out this event for book lovers and dog lovers. The ‘Barks and Books’ dog adoption is happening Saturday at the Hardin County Public Library from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Grand reopening of the Carnegie Center

The Carnegie Center for Arts and History is reopening this weekend.

Stop by Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to see the new exhibition pieces. If you live outside of Madison County, admission is $10. Admission is free for Madison County residents

“Now that we have our free membership program for locals; people in side of the county you can come get a membership card and enjoy these new exhibitions throughout the year,” said Aaron Hardin, director of Carnegie Center.

Showcase your talent for Tennessee Songwriters Week

Don’t miss the qualifying round of Tennessee Songwriters Week at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center this Saturday. Two talented winners will be selected to advance to semi-finals in Memphis.

“Anyone can stop in and listen to the music. If you want to sign up for the competition you can go to our website to do that,” said Sonia Outlaw-Clark, director for the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center.

It’s meant to be! Jackson Bridal Shower returns

As for Sunday, brides-to-be, the countdown is on! The Jackson Bridal Show will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Admission is $5 per person at the door. Text love to 3-0-6-0-5 to pre-register and enter for the chance to win a bracelet from Roberts Jewelers.

Join with local leaders and other community members for a time of prayer at Jackson City Hall at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
