Student charged with false report after alleged gun threat

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — We have received multiple reports that a gun was located at Scotts Hill High School on Wednesday, and reports that a student had made a threat to the school.

We spoke to Henderson County Director of Schools Danny Beecham regarding the incident, who says the report was not valid.

“We had received word a threat had been made and law enforcement checked into it and there was no threat,” said Beecham.

Beecham said school officials and law enforcement investigated the claim and there was no weapon found, and it was determined no threat had been made to the school.

Beecham said all precautions have been taken to ensure safety.

“There was no threat to the school. It’s not even that there was no credible threat. There was no threat at all,” said Beecham.

Beecham said the student that reported the threat has been charged with filing a false report.

Dr. Lawanda Staten with Scotts High High shared the following statement:

Parents, it was brought to our attention that someone allegedly made a threat against SHHS. It was looked into by law enforcement. It was determined no credible threat was made. Nevertheless, please be assured that this matter has been taken seriously and that all necessary actions have been taken to ensure the safety of our school. Thank you, and have a good day.
