Local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosts Founder’s Day
JACKSON, Tenn. —One local sorority chapter celebrates a milestone.
The Jackson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. observes its Founders’ Day. The organization has proudly served its community for 112 years since its founding in 1913.
Festivities began at 3 in the afternoon at St. Paul CME Church located at 282 Middleton Street in Jackson.
Members honored the twenty-two founding sisters while also recognizing the hard work and dedication of various chapter sisters.
The event also included a message from keynote speaker, Jackson native Elsie Cooke-Holmes, who serves as the sorority’s International President, Chair, and Board of Directors.
“We speak out of social justice issues. Make sure that the community has the resources that they need. And to make sure that we can continue to move forward in the legacy of our founders,” said Elsie Cooke Holmes, Delta Sigma Theta International President.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority includes more than 350,000 members and over 100 of those members are a part of the Jackson Alumnae Chapter.
