Senator Blackburn weighs in on Trump’s priorities, talks new legislation
JACKSON, Tenn. — Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn weighs in on President Trump’s recent crackdown on immigration, and how imposed tariffs will affect Tennesseans. Plus, she’s introducing a bill that could provide training to beauty professionals to help keep their clients safe in cases of domestic violence.
Senator Blackburn is pleased to have President Trump in office, and speaks for Tennesseans who also support him.
“President Donald Trump is doing a fantastic job,” Senator Blackburn said. “We hear from Tennesseans every single day about how pleased they are to see him actually draining the swamp.”
Senator Blackburn also weighed in on the President’s recent crackdown on illegal immigration—speaking for local law enforcement.
“Local law enforcement in Tennessee is very pleased that we are able to transfer these individuals to ICE, and ICE is transferring them to Guantanamo Bay and holding them there. It’s completely appropriate,” Blackburn said.
Recent legislation for the Clear Act would require ICE to reimburse local agencies for the apprehension and detention of illegal immigrants.
She also addressed Trump’s tariffs.
Economists predict tariffs will raise prices. Senator Blackburn says she expects tariffs to contribute to the economy.
“We know that there will be some tariffs. The expectation is that the American people are not going to see increases in prices. What they will see is inflation come down. We are hopeful that they are also going to see wage growth and a more vibrant economy,” said Blackburn.
More legislation includes the Salons Stories Act, which would provide training for cosmetologists to recognize signs of domestic abuse on their clients, such as bruises, scrapes, and scratches.
This bill would allow cosmetologists to work directly with local intervention agencies to provide resources to victims of domestic violence.
