Thieves Risk Lives for Copper

Utility officials in Breathitt County say copper thieves risked their lives stealing from an American Electric Power substation. Someone crawled under a fence at the Haddix substation over the weekend. They only got about two-hundred feet of copper wire, but they also stole some tools. New River Electric Foreman Matt Trail says anything above ground at a substation is clad in iron and isn’t worth much if sold as scrap.
