JACKSON, Tenn.- The Madison County Commission and Jackson-Madison County School Board members are joining forces to form an information committee. The main purpose of the new commission is to establish a flow of information between the school board and Madison County commissioners. “This is an opportunity to develop communication so we understand their needs, their goals, their objectives, their accountability measurements and they understand the county budget and some of the problems we have,” Commissioner Larry Lowrance said. Each of the following four committees will select a member from the body of commissions: property, capital, budget, finance and two members will be selected at large. The length of the term the county commissioners serve will be limited to two years. “This will be an opportunity to work together and to make sure we can make some progress in some of the things we need in technology and our school system,” said Ginger Carver from the Jackson-Madison County School System. At-large members and committee appointed members will be selected on or before next month’s meeting. “I am so excited about our new school board and new superintendent. The goals and the plans they have made just in a short two, three weeks, the changes are happening,” Lowrance said.
