Pothole repairs, roadway maintenance continues as nicer weather returns

JACKSON, Tenn. — Nicer weather moving in means maintenance on the roadways here in West Tennessee.

Tennessee Department of Transportation crews were spotted along westbound Interstate 40 Monday morning patching potholes on the freeway between Lexington and Parker’s Crossroads.

TDOT regional communications officer Nichole Lawrence told us that crews would be on I-40 Monday in Henderson County and in Haywood County on Tuesday.

Expect a slight delay in your travels if you encounter the crew on the highway, as the highway is cut down to one lane near the workers.

Back in Jackson, we reached out to Street Department Superintendent Johnny Weddell for some information on the city roads.

“We are using a coal mix which is a temporary patch until probably around the first of April maybe and then we’ll go to a hot mix,” said Weddell.

Here in the Hub City, crews are hard at work using the new district-based pothole repair.

Crews on Monday are working in the fourth district which contains portions of Jackson north of the interstate.

“Those days will still be designated for those days, however, we still got people in the surrounding districts as well,” said Weddell.

To report a pothole within the city limits, you can call 3-1-1 or use the ready 3-1-1 mobile app.
