Jackson Parks and Rec holds public input meeting regarding grant application
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson Parks and Rec Department held a public input meeting Monday at Cyprus Grove Nature Park.
The meeting shared information regarding the application for the outdoor recreation legacy partnership grant. The purpose of the grant is to complete phase two of the Cyprus Grove Boardwalk Project which will fund a boardwalk section of Jewelweed Trail which connects a loop.
Cyprus grove was built in 1984 and is 265 acres. The park is home to a variety of insects, birds, fish, reptiles as well as guests.
“We have data that shows, you know, almost 20,000 visitors last year alone with the boardwalk in the shape that it’s in. We can’t imagine what the future of Cyprus is when it’s repaired and when it becomes the shining jewel that it once was,” said Christi David, park operation manager with the City of Jackson Parks and Rec.
David shares that public input is vital for grants because state and federal government want to know that they’re investing dollars in what the community wants.
