E.W. Grove students participate in 14th annual Save-A-Heart Day

PARIS, Tenn. — E.W. Grove students participated in the 14th annual Save-A-Heart Day.

Save-A-Heart Day is an exciting event on their campus! Special sessions began at 8 a.m. and continued until 3 p.m. with lunch. The day consists of students rotating through multiple heart-healthy stations.

There was CPR certification led by approximately 16 instructors from West Tennessee Healthcare, air-evac and volunteers. Students were trained by CPR instructors and, upon successful completion, will become CPR-certified.

Students also practiced exercises that can be done easily at home and lead to a heart-healthy body.

“Start now, get in the habits, get in those habits of exercising and eating right and making a lifelong habit, and when they get to my age, they’re gonna be much happier and healthier,” said Lynne Green, school counselor.

There was also a ‘Words Matter Session’ led by Sherriff Josh Frey and Special Agent Jamie James spoke to the students about choices and their negative effects as well as provided ideas on handling peer pressure.
