Five planets will be visible to the naked eye Friday evening, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Mercury will be in the constellation Aquarius, near the sun and just above the western horizon. Saturn will also be near the sun and low in the horizon, making it harder to spot. To see Uranus and Neptune, you’ll need a telescope. Uranus will appear in the Aries constellation, and Neptune will be in Pisces. The display will only be visible for a few minutes after sunset, because the planets near the horizon, Saturn and Mercury will be setting. For the best view, head to a location with minimal light pollution and a clear view of the horizon. We are expecting clear skies Friday evening in West Tennessee, so go check it out, and if you have a telescope, be sure to break it out as well!

The next chance for severe weather looks to be in the way for next week. Sometime on Tuesday a powerful system will be moving through. This system looks to be setting up to bring a round of severe weather to the Mid South. We will watch the forecast closely this week and bring you daily updates on the timing of the event as well as who is most likely to be impacted from the storms. The Storm Prediction Center has already outline an area they are most concerned for the upcoming event which was still 7 days out as of Wednesday. Please stay weather aware as severe seems highly likely from the system as of now, including strong storms in West Tennessee between Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night!
