Jail staff address ‘software error’ regarding booking info mishap

LETTER FROM THE MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (3/12/25):

Dear Benton County Board of Commissioners, Sheriff Christopher, and the residents of Benton County,

I am writing to formally address an unfortunate incident that occurred on or about the evening of March 11, 2025, involving an individual who was arrested and booked into the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex on charges of Driving Under the Influence. This individual had a name similar to that of Benton County Sheriff Kenneth Christopher. During the booking process, our internal jail software inadvertently populated incorrect information that closely matched that of Sheriff Christopher.

Once this discrepancy was identified, immediate corrective action was taken internally to rectify the error. However, Mobile Patrol, a third-party vendor that automatically receives booking data, required additional time and information to update their system and remove the incorrect record. We can confirm that as of today, Mobile Patrol has fully corrected this issue, and no inaccurate information remains in their database.

To be unequivocally clear, at no time has Benton County Sheriff Kenneth Christopher been arrested or booked into the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex on any charge.

We deeply regret this error and sincerely apologize to Sheriff Christopher, his family, friends, and the residents of Benton County for any distress or confusion this may have caused. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office holds itself to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability, and we have taken immediate internal steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Again, please accept our sincerest apologies for this unfortunate mistake. We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to ensuring accuracy and integrity in our processes.

Sincerely,
Stanley Flowers
Captain, Jail Operations
Madison County Sheriff’s Office
