Herbert Windham Caldwell

Herbert Windham Caldwell, age 96, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Concord Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Tommy Shackleford officiating.
Mr. Herbert was born in New Albany, MS on November 12, 1928, to the late George M. Caldwell and the late Lillian Peral Phillips Caldwell.  He was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church of Memphis, TN and retired after 20+ years of employment as a tailor for Levi Strauss. Mr. Herbert never met a stranger; he loved people and was always outgoing and busy.  He was also a workaholic and was known to have a memory like an iron trap.  After all these years, he was still able to recall details from years ago, astonishing everyone that was there, but had forgot.  He was also preceded in death by one brother:  Bill Caldwell; two sisters:  Thelma Wells and Zelma Hellums.
Mr. Herbert is survived by his wife of over 58 years:  Martha Lee Caldwell of Brownsville, TN; two daughters:  Shelia Kay Shackleford (Tommy) and Pamela Moore (Bill) all of Byhalia, MS; He leaves a legacy of four grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  He also leaves behind many, many friends to cherish his memory.
