City of Jackson seeks selected citizens’ participation in ‘My Travels Count’ survey
JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson seeks selected citizens’ participation in a travels survey.
The local Jackson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is currently conducting an important survey called “My Travels Count.” The Center for Transportation Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is partnering with Jackson MPO to conduct the survey.
“The my travel county survey is a survey that we as a Jackson MPO are participating in along with about eight other MPO’s across the state, and it’s to provide information on transportation in the Jackson and Madison County area,” said Hannah Mathis, TN associate planner for City of Jackson.
This is a rare opportunity for households to provide vital information that will help set transportation priorities for many years to come. Here’s how effective results are calculated.
“It’ll be randomly selected so you’ll have to be invited to participate, and we’ll be sending out letters of invitation in the next week or so. It helps provide transportation related data so that we can make policy decisions around our transportation network,” said Mathis.
We find out how often the My Travels Count survey should be conducted.
“It’s recommended that these types of survey be completed about every 10 years, and Jackson hasn’t actually completed one in — I think it was 2006,” said Mathis.
All participating parties have a chance to receive a token of appreciation for completing this process for their household.
“There will be an incentive that will be provided in the letter that you receive if you complete the survey,” said Mathis.
If your household is selected, a prompt response to the invitation ensures that each household’s experiences are reflected in the results and is the best way to help the survey succeed.
The information provided will be used in conjunction with traffic counts and travel information collected from local businesses.
As required by the privacy act, any information obtained during this survey will be kept confidential. It will be converted to statistical data and used only for study purposes.
