Expert talks breakthrough treatment for diabetes symptoms
JACKSON, Tenn. — Diabetes Alert Day recognizes diabetes and its complications.
One condition, known as diabetic peripheral neuropathy, affects up to 50% of diabetes patients.
The symptoms include chronic pain, numbness, and tingling in the hands and feet.
Typical treatment for DPN focuses on pain management, but WinSanTor, a biotechnology company, has created a drug that promotes nerve regeneration rather than masking the pain.
“You know, the first call of action that we have for most of our patients is just talk about the disease, talk to your family, talk to your friends, and you’ll be surprised how many people have peripheral neuropathy, and so, the more people talk about peripheral neuropathy, the more awareness it will be for the disease,” said WinSanTor CEO Stanley Kim.
