TORNADO WATCH ISSUED, Updates Coming from Storm Team 7
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for All of West Tennessee until 11:00 PM Sunday. We have all the details on the system coming up right here.
Setup:
Storms will be moving ahead of a cold front moving from NW to SE. Due to the direction these storms will be moving, the tornado threat is low, but still not zero. Primary concerns with this system are damaging winds up to 60 MPH, and hail that could reach up to Egg size, or 2 inches in diameter. Some showers from earlier this afternoon may help to inhibit convective development, but only time will tell.
Timing:
Storms will begin to initiate along the boundary as early as 3 PM, and will intensify over a couple hours before moving out of West Tennessee by 8 PM. The biggest area for concern is along Highway 64 from Bolivar and points west.
We will have updates on Facebook and the WBBJ Weather App every 30 minutes this afternoon.
