Ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomes sculpture to downtown Paris
PARIS, Tenn. — One local city welcomes a special art piece.
The Paris Downtown Plaza Foundation held a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning for a sculpture titled “Henri.” The artwork is the newest addition to the Paris Downtown Plaza Fountain. The piece took about three months of work and is made of ceramics and clay, which was painted and fired.
The stunning sculpture, crafted by local artist Dan Knowles and apprentice Sara Candejas, pays tribute to Henry County’s rich history.
“We’d like to think the City of Paris and the state arts commission for their support, their ongoing support and all of that. It has been just absolutely wonderful and mind blowing, the amount of support that we’ve received,” said Dan Knowles, artist and creator of “Henri.”
Knowles has created murals for the Paris community in the past.
