Early dismissals, closures announced ahead of severe weather

JACKSON, Tenn. — Local schools and businesses have announced early dismissals or closures due to severe weather expected Wednesday afternoon.

The following schools have confirmed early dismissals and closures on Wednesday, April 2 due to inclement weather:

  • Adamsville High School has canceled its after school programs.
  • Bethel University will close all administrative offices and classes will be canceled at 2 p.m. Physician Assistant students will receive guidance directly from PA Program faculty. College of Professional Studies online courses will continue as scheduled. The Cafeteria will serve dinner from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. The Wildcat will close at 4 p.m. The Library will remain open today on its normal operating hours. Both floors as well as the front and rear entrances will be open.
  • Crockett County Schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.
  • Haywood County Schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.
  • Hardeman County Schools will have a delayed start on Thursday, April 3. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. Students may be dropped off at 8 a.m.
  • Jackson Christian School has canceled all after-school activities. All after-care students must be picked up by 4 p.m.
  • Jackson-Madison County School System will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. for high school and at 1:30 p.m. for elementary.
  • Jackson State Community College will close all JSCC locations at 4:30 p.m.
  • Milan Middle School has canceled all after-school activities. This includes clubs, athletic events, detention, and any other scheduled programs. Students will need to go home at regular dismissal time.
  • Obion County Schools will be dismissing at 1:30 p.m.
  • University School of Jackson has canceled all practices and games. All after-school care students, infants, and toddlers will need to be picked up by 4:00 p.m. in order for our campus to be clear by 4:30 p.m.
  • University of Tennessee at Martin has canceled evening classes at the UT Martin main campus after 5 p.m. While all UT Martin Regional Centers will close at 4:30 p.m. and remain closed for evening classes. Regional centers are in Jackson, Parsons, Selmer, Somerville, Ripley and Springfield in Middle Tennessee.
  • Weakley County Schools will dismiss at 2 p.m. Buses will run. All after school activities will be canceled, including After School Care.

The following businesses have confirmed early dismissals and closures on Wednesday, April 2 due to inclement weather:

  • Blacksmith Restaurant will be closing both locations at 4 p.m.
  • First Presbyterian Church of Jackson has canceled tonight’s dinner and programming.
  • Green Frog Cafe of Jackson will be closing at 3 p.m.
  • Jackson-Madison County Library will be closing at 5:00 p.m.
  • Martin Church of Christ Wednesday Services in-person cancelled. Online at 6:30 p.m.
  • Martin City Hall will be closing at 3:30 p.m.
  • Milan Chamber will be closing early at 3:30 p.m.
  • Paris City Hall will be closing at 4 p.m.
  • Police Records will be closing at 4 p.m.
  • Paris Civic Center will be closing at 4 p.m.
  • Paris-Henry County Animal Shelter will be closing at 4 p.m.
