Man sentenced for attempted murder

 

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — One man is sentenced for attempted murder.

Attempted Murder Sentencing

On January 13, 2024, the Lexington Police Department responded to Walmart located at 547 West Church Street in Lexington regarding a shooting. Responding officers found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the business. The victim of the shooting was transported to Regional One Medical in Memphis and was released in the weeks following the shooting.
In the days following this incident investigators with the Criminal Investigative Division of the Lexington Police Department identified Jaylon L. Sanders (22) of Beech Bluff, TN as the person responsible for the shooting. On January 24, 2024, Sanders was arrested by LPD at a residence in Lexington.
On March 28, 2025, Jaylon Sanders pled guilty in Division II of Henderson County Circuit Court to the offenses of Criminal Attempt to Commit 2nd Degree Murder, Employing a Firearm in Commission of a Dangerous Felony and Criminal Attempt to Commit Aggravated Robbery. Sanders was sentenced to 10 years TDOC on count one, 6 years on count two, and 10 years on count three related to this incident. Counts one and two will run consecutively.
This case was successfully prosecuted by the Office of District Attorney General Jody Pickens.
