Homicide investigation in Henry Co. after 22 year-old is killed

HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A shooting Saturday night leaves a Kentucky man dead in Henry county.

“We responded to the Mini Mart in Puryear, Tennessee in reference to what we’re working as a homicide,” Henry County Sheriff’s Office Captain Adam Jenkins said.

Around 8:30 Saturday night in the small town of Puryear, a shooting outside this convenient store on Highway 641 snatched a young man’s life.

“The victim was a 22 year old male,” Captain Jenkins said. “Following up some leads. We’re working jointly with the TBI and investigators with the district attorneys office and Puryear Police Department.”

Investigators have identified Joshua Hadra as the victim. Deputies say he lived right across the state line in neighboring Hazel, Kentucky and worked in Murray.

Sunday crime scene tape is still up at the Mini Mart. According to the clerk the victim had an altercation with someone in the parking lot.

“It’s a shooting and it is definitely being worked as a homicide,” Captain Jenkins said.

A witness says they saw Hadra laid on the ground in the parking lot, bleeding from his head and proceeded to call 911. Investigators would not say how many shots were fired.

“We don’t feel like this was a random act,” Captain Jenkins said. “We thing that this was somebody that was actually targeting this individual.”

Mini Mart employees say investigators have a copy of security camera video from outside the store.

“We took the actual surveillance video from the mini mart to possibly gain any kind of insight on what happened in the parking lot,” Captain Jenkins said.

Investigators say there are no suspects or person of interest at this time.
