Famous game show ‘Family Feud’ gets local twist for charity

JACKSON, Tenn. — A popular TV game show gets the Hub City treatment for a night of entertainment and charity.

Hundreds of families came out Friday to the Carl Perkins Civic Center to watch Jackson’s own first responders and city leaders play against each other in a Family Feud-style game show called “Fabulous Feud.”

This is a night that’s more than just a game for Jackson-Madison County “Trunk or Treat” founder Jeff Wall. It’s an idea that he’s been working on for a long time, and it’s all for the upcoming 10th anniversary for Trunk or Treat at the end of October.

“Everybody was just very excited about it,” Wall said. “They got out and really talked to our normal sponsors.”

All proceeds from the event will help provide over 2 million pieces of candy to be given out at Trunk or Treat. Wall said having our first responders be the contestants gives them the opportunity to show kids they’re more than just a title.

“They’re not always in homes arresting their mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters and things like that. They do have heart,” said Wall.

Wall had a special surprise waiting for him before the night began. He was awarded the key to the city presented by Mayor Jerry Gist for helping bring Trunk or Treat to the Hub City.

“When you see the smiles on those faces and you can see that it goes from 80 to 20,000 people, you know that’s where my passion comes from is to be able to do that and provide something for them,” Wall said.

The 10th annual Jackson-Madison County Trunk or Treat will be on Oct. 28 at the Ballpark at Jackson. It’s free and open to the public.
