Man Arrested For 2012 Pool Hall Death Enters Not Guilty Plea

JACKSON, Tenn. — The second man arrested in connection with the 2012 fatal Breaker’s Billiards beating appeared in court Monday morning. Anthony Antonio Swift appeared in Madison County Circuit Court Monday and entered a not guilty plea to the charge of second degree murder. His bond was set at $175,000 with a plea cut off date of December 16th. On June 17, 2012 around 12:30 a.m., Jackson police were called about an assault at Breaker’s Billiards, located at 701 S. Royal Street. Kenneth Brasher was found lying on the floor inside the business. He was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was later pronounced dead from blunt force trauma. The investigation indicated that Brasher was struck in the head with a bar stool following an altercation. Swift is a special education assistant at Jackson Careers and Technology Elementary School, turned himself in around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in connection with the violent beating. Swift has been employed as a special education assistant since October of 2010. He has been suspended without pay from his duties with the school system pending an investigation. A jury trial set for January 14-15 of 2014. Swift is still in the Madison County Jail.
