New Carroll County Jail Set to Open

HUNTINGDON, Tenn.- In a few weeks, Carroll County will open its new jail. On Monday, WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News not only got a look at the outside of the new facility, but was also allowed inside as well. Deputies say the new building will be twice as big as the old jail with up to 185 inmates beds available. The sheriff said it will be challenged to the transition into the new jail, a process they hope to have completed by the first of November. “Yes, it’s something definitely needed if you check. I think we are the last county that surrounds us to build a jail everyone else has build one since we had,” Sheriff Andy Dickson of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department said. Sheriff Dickson said 15 new staffers have been hired and are currently undergoing state training.
