Record High River Levels Continue and a Frost is Possible the Next Two Nights!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
After a widespread 10-15″ of rain in West Tennessee along and Northwest of I-40, rivers continue to run very high! Record levels have been reported along the Obion River and the Forked Deer River is also running very high into the Major Flood Stage. On top of the flooding, it is going to get quite chilly tonight and a frost advisory has been issued. We could be looking at a freeze for some of us on Wednesday morning as well. Catch the latest coming up here.

Record river flooding is happening right now on the Obion River near Obion. Avoid unnecessary travel on HWY 45W and HWY 51 through Obion County. Please heed all road closures and Turn Around, Don’t Drown when encountering flooded areas!

THIS WEEK:
After picking up over a foot of rain in many places in West Tennessee from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning last week, we are looking mostly dry this week across the region. The heavy rains caused rivers, creeks and streams to run very high and they should remain that way for a few more days this week as the water runs downstream. The next chance for rain is coming on Thursday, but it doesn’t look like much.

Skies will remain clear Monday night and there will be a cool breeze coming in out of the northwest as well. Overnight lows will fall into the mid 30s and there could be some frost. A frost advisory has been issued for all of West Tennessee tonight. Highs on Tuesday will not be very high and only reach the mid 50s. Skies will be sunny though but those winds will stay out of the north keeping the temperature down as well. We could be even colder Tuesday night with some areas, especially in our northern counties, could see a freeze.

The warm up will start on Wednesday with highs making it back up to around 70°. The main reason we will be warming up will be due to the winds changing back from the north to south early in the day. We will see some clouds returning late in the day but we should stay dry on Wednesday. There could be a few showers returning late Wednesday night but there appears to be a better shot for rain on Thursday. Wednesday night lows will fall down to the low 50s to kick off our Thursday. Thursday highs will reach the mid 70s but there will be plenty of clouds and some spotty showers as well. A few weak storms may try to mix in as well, but we are not expecting much if any severe weather at all. We will keep an eye on things but we are expecting a pretty quiet afternoon as far as storms on Thursday as of now.

A front will pass late Thursday and that will cool things down some as we wrap up the work week. As of Thursday night, the winds will shift from the west during the day to the northwest overnight. Clouds will stick around for the most part Thursday night and break up some during the day on Friday. Friday morning we will start in the mid 40s but reach the mid 60s by Friday evening. Friday night will be a little cool and we should drop down to around 40° to kick off our weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
The weather doesn’t look too bad this weekend across West Tennessee and we will NOT be dodging thunderstorms or severe weather. In fact, it looks like a dry weekend but it will be a cool start for the most part. After starting Saturday around 40° in morning, highs will reach the low 60s into the afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies on Saturday and expect a sunny day for the most part on Sunday. The winds will come out of the north on Saturday before transitioning back to the southeast Sunday afternoon. The southeast winds will warm us back up into the mid 70s on Sunday. Sunday night will be warm, humid and a bit breezy with lows falling to the upper 50s to kick off next week.
