Christian Aid Ministries offers free disaster cleanup services
JACKSON, Tenn. — One organization is offering free cleanup services to residents affected by the recent storms.
The disaster relief team from Christian Aid Ministries is providing assistance to Hardeman and McNairy County residents.
Their volunteers are helping to remove trees and debris that are a hassle for homeowners to tackle themselves.
“To us, it’s a prime opportunity to simply be the hands and feet of Jesus. To come in in that critical moment and show them his love and offer a helping hand. You know, more than just talking. It’s actually in action,” said Kenneth Beachy, disaster response coordinator.
This organization covers Tennessee and Kentucky disasters. Most of their workers consist of Mennonite and Amish volunteers.
“So Skid Steers and chainsaw crews are really gonna be the most important because there’s a lot of big trees, you know, bigger than what you can handle by hand, so equipment’s really gonna be the big thing to get everything cleaned up,” said Beachy.
The disaster response crews break down trees and debris that have fallen and creates piles on the curb for the city or county to remove more easily.
“So, largely we have people reach out to us. We do some cold calling, like ‘Looks like they could handle some help,’ and so just go up and ask them. And we have brochures that we leave at the doors and then they can call us, but then we also have signs scattered throughout,” said Beachy.
If you or someone you know would like to utilize this service, you can contact them at 330-473-5793 for a free cleanup.
