Tom Britt receives 2025 Billy Schrivner Distinguished Service Award

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local legend is honored for his role in West Tennessee’s broadcasting and sports history.

Earlier Thursday evening, Tom Britt was awarded the 2025 Billy Schrivner Distinguished Service Award at the annual Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame banquet. Britt is a former news anchor and producer who worked here at WBBJ-TV for 30 years.

He was also a mainstay on the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Skyhawk Sports Network from 1981 to 2021.

“I’ve always enjoyed working for nonprofits and having a sports background, I’ve worked with the Sports Hall of Fame for several years. It means a lot and I’m humbled, and I just feel great that they took the time to honor me — the board members did. It’s a real honor that they chose me,” said Britt.

The award is named after the late Billy Schrivner who is a founder for the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame.
