3 employees charged with trading store merchandise for cash
JACKSON, Tenn. — Three men face theft charges on accusations of pocketing thousands in cash in exchange for merchandise from the Jackson retail store where they worked.
Johnathan Dodson, Zollie Johnson and Kenneth Kight Jr. are charged with trading merchandise at Harbor Freight Tools for cash and then keeping the money, according to court documents.
The store’s loss prevention personnel observed Kight on Dec. 19 exchange merchandise for cash and then put the money in his pocket, according to an affidavit.
An internal investigation on the same date involving store video footage revealed that Dodson and Johnson were also involved with trading the store’s merchandise for cash, according to court documents.
The transactions took place inside the store at the cash register but the sales were not reported through the register, court documents say.
Dodson and Kight are each charged with theft over $10,000. Johnson is charged with theft over $2,500.
Dodson remains in custody in lieu of $5,000 bond. Johnson has been released on $7,500 bond, and Kight has been released on $1,000 bond.
