New principal, assistant principal named for Haywood High School

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — School leaders have announced a new principal and assistant principal for Haywood High School.

Latonya Jackson will take over as principal of Haywood High School and Steve Hookfin will be the school’s new assistant principal.

School officials announced the new leadership on the Haywood County Schools Facebook page.

The announcement comes after the previous principal and assistant principal were reassigned earlier this month after student protests of racist social media messages exchanged by students at the school.

The school leaders will begin their new roles at the start of the spring semester.
